Bubbling Supertubes and Foaming Black Holes
We construct smooth BPS three-charge geometries that resolve the zero-entropy
singularity of the U(1) x U(1) invariant black ring. This singularity is
resolved by a geometric transition that results in geometries without any
branes sources or singularities but with non-trivial topology. These geometries
are both ground states of the black ring, and non-trivial microstates of the
D1-D5-P system. We also find the form of the geometries that result from the
geometric transition of N zero-entropy black rings, and argue that, in general,
such geometries give a very large number of smooth bound-state three-charge
solutions, parameterized by 6N functions. The generic microstate solution is
specified by a four-dimensional hyper-Kahler geometry of a certain signature,
and contains a ``foam'' of non-trivial two-spheres. We conjecture that these
geometries will account for a significant part of the entropy of the D1-D5-P
black hole, and that Mathur's conjecture might reduce to counting certain
hyper-Kahler manifolds.Comment: 40 pages, harvmac. v2 references added, typo correcte
On Automated Lemma Generation for Separation Logic with Inductive Definitions
Separation Logic with inductive definitions is a well-known approach for
deductive verification of programs that manipulate dynamic data structures.
Deciding verification conditions in this context is usually based on
user-provided lemmas relating the inductive definitions. We propose a novel
approach for generating these lemmas automatically which is based on simple
syntactic criteria and deterministic strategies for applying them. Our approach
focuses on iterative programs, although it can be applied to recursive programs
as well, and specifications that describe not only the shape of the data
structures, but also their content or their size. Empirically, we find that our
approach is powerful enough to deal with sophisticated benchmarks, e.g.,
iterative procedures for searching, inserting, or deleting elements in sorted
lists, binary search tress, red-black trees, and AVL trees, in a very efficient
way
Decision Procedure for Entailment of Symbolic Heaps with Arrays
This paper gives a decision procedure for the validity of en- tailment of
symbolic heaps in separation logic with Presburger arithmetic and arrays. The
correctness of the decision procedure is proved under the condition that sizes
of arrays in the succedent are not existentially bound. This condition is
independent of the condition proposed by the CADE-2017 paper by Brotherston et
al, namely, one of them does not imply the other. For improving efficiency of
the decision procedure, some techniques are also presented. The main idea of
the decision procedure is a novel translation of an entailment of symbolic
heaps into a formula in Presburger arithmetic, and to combine it with an
external SMT solver. This paper also gives experimental results by an
implementation, which shows that the decision procedure works efficiently

Electrical Characteristics of Polypropylene Mixed with Natural Nanoclay
Polypropylene has been used in radio-frequency capacitors and has also started to be employed in cables as insulation. The objective of this study was to evaluate the electrical properties of polypropylene filled with natural clay as a nano-material. Polypropylene samples having 0%, 2% and 6% natural clay by weight were exposed to 60-Hz sinusoidal voltages at two different rates of rise. The breakdown voltage of each sample was recorded at these different ramp rates. Also, the Root-mean-squared (rms) current was measured as the voltage was increased across the test samples. The important findings of this study were (a) the breakdown strength of the natural nanoclay-filled polypropylene was higher than the unfilled polypropylene, and the optimum concentration of nanoclay appeared to be 2% by weight; (b) the current density as a function of the electric-field intensity indicated a non-linear behavior with saturation, and the saturation onset took place at a higher electric-field intensity in nanoclay-filled polypropylene, wherein 2% nanoclay seemed to be the optimum concentration as well for the onset electric field of saturation
Splitting hairs of the three charge black hole
We construct the large radius limit of the metric of three charge supertubes
and three charge BPS black rings by using the fact that supertubes preserve the
same supersymmetries as their component branes. Our solutions reproduce a few
of the properties of three charge supertubes found recently using the Born
Infeld description. Moreover, we find that these solutions pass a number of
rather nontrivial tests which they should pass if they are to describe some of
the hair of three charge black holes and three charge black rings.Comment: 15 pages, LaTeX, v2 minor correction
Deciding Entailments in Inductive Separation Logic with Tree Automata
Separation Logic (SL) with inductive definitions is a natural formalism for
specifying complex recursive data structures, used in compositional
verification of programs manipulating such structures. The key ingredient of
any automated verification procedure based on SL is the decidability of the
entailment problem. In this work, we reduce the entailment problem for a
non-trivial subset of SL describing trees (and beyond) to the language
inclusion of tree automata (TA). Our reduction provides tight complexity bounds
for the problem and shows that entailment in our fragment is EXPTIME-complete.
For practical purposes, we leverage from recent advances in automata theory,
such as inclusion checking for non-deterministic TA avoiding explicit
determinization. We implemented our method and present promising preliminary
experimental results
GENERAL CONSIDERATIONS OF JUDICIAL WILL REGARDING ITS LIMITS IN ECO – ECONOMICAL CONTRACTS
After a brief study of the contract legal concept we attempted to examine the essential elements of the contract - the agreement of will between parties. The autonomy theory of will - which legally promoted contemporary, the concept of freedom of contract, we will analyze the concept in question, both over time and in last centuries when transformations of freedom of contract and contractual law have been most reliable, amplifying the ambiguity of the meaning of contractual freedom in the Romanian legal order and the number and diversity of doctrines that were interested in freedom of contract become substantial. Economic and social realities experienced significant changes, which made the autonomy theory of will first to be put in question and then challenged, attempting to detect the judicial construction of the contract
Exotic polarizations of D2 branes and oblique vacua of (S)YM
We investigate the oblique vacua in the perturbed 2+1 dimensional gauge
theory living on D2 branes. The string theory dual of these vacua is expected
to correspond to polarizations of the D2 branes into NS5 branes with D4 brane
charge. We perturb the gauge theory by adding fermions masses. In the
nonsupersymmetric case, we also consider the effect of slight variations of the
masses of the scalars. For certain ranges of scalar masses we find oblique
vacua.
We show that D4 charge is an essential ingredient in understanding D2 -> NS5
polarizations. We find that some of the polarization states which appear as
metastable vacua when D4 charge is not considered are in fact unstable. They
decay by acquiring D4 charge, tilting and shrinking to zero size.Comment: 15 pages, 3 figures, LaTe
Governance: Concepts And Emergence In Brazilian Education
The text discusses the polysemy of the term governance in different fields of knowledge, with a particular emphasis on the field of Education. Then, it discusses the state-of-the-art of governance in the education area, from an analytical-descriptive literature review based on content analysis. This paper analyzes governance in specialized literature by conducting a survey of the papers found in the databases of the Scientific Electronic Library Online and the Brazilian Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations during the period 2004-2015. The results indicate that the term governance has been increasingly used in discussions about changes in the state's role and the phases of educational public policies, by force of the public-private partnerships. However, there is also a need to broaden the debate on educational governance in Brazilian academic circles, in view of the limited number of studies identified.249393996
Exact N=2 Supergravity Solutions With Polarized Branes
We construct several classes of exact supersymmetric supergravity solutions
describing D4 branes polarized into NS5 branes and F-strings polarized into D2
branes. These setups belong to the same universality class as the perturbative
solutions used by Polchinski and Strassler to describe the string dual of N=1*
theories. The D4-NS5 setup can be interpreted as a string dual to a confining
4+1 dimensional theory with 8 supercharges, whose properties we discuss. By
T-duality, our solutions give Type IIB supersymmetric backgrounds with
polarized branes.Comment: 22 pages. v2 - references added, details clarifie
